Services Performed
- Technician found a code for a possible short to ground on the harness leading into the passenger curtain airbag. Called out our specialist from ATS to determine the root cause. This airbag was replaced just two months ago and the system check each time the vehicle turns on should alert to a problem with the airbag immediately. Specialist was able to review the new SRS warning. The airbag's continuity was tested and found to be at 2.5 ohms, so no shorts to ground there or and further testing didn't find any problems with the wiring leading into the curtain airbag. The next step was to test the module and connections leading into the module for a loose connection or logic fault. The trim around the center console was removed to access the SRS bolted to the floor in the center of the vehicle. The module was dry, undamaged, and had likely never been exposed since it's first installation.
- ATS found all the wiring from the rear quarter panel to the airbag is in good condition without any burns, damaged insulation, or loose connections. The resistance within the airbag itself is at the required 2.5 ohms, confirming the airbag is set to function properly if needed. ATS will return to test the SRS module under the center console once the console is removed for access. It's believed the fault is at the module itself, a terminal plugged into the module, or a wire in the harness to the module.
