    • Technician found the new mass airflow sensor was installed in the wrong direction of airflow causing metering issues. With the sensor turned around the vehicle ran normally. A coolant pressure test was conducted to see where it was leaking from, as there wasn't coolant inside the radiator. Coolant was seen coming from the water pump, but had also made its way into the combustion chamber causing a hydrolock. The engine can't be started now unless the coolant is sucked out of the chamber first. But the vehicle definitely has either a cracked block or large cylinder head gasket leak. This would be about $4k to $6k at the very least to correct (cylinder head gasket or engine replacement). Customer declined repairs at this time.

    • Engine oil level and condition okay. Unable to duplicate concern with fully warmed engine on 3 mile road test, on very steep streets (3600 block of State St and Columbia St), ascending and descending, as well as during exaggerated acceleration and braking (even on steep streets), and cornering. Oil pan was removed in October to replace the RTV gasket due to leaks. There are no leaks now but there is a concern some of the RTV cracked off inside getting stuck in the oil pickup tube. Oil pan was removed again to check to see if there was any debris inside and none was found. The gasket was covered under warranty. If the oil light persists it's believed to be an electrical issue and not for a mechanical fault.

    • The light was found to be working normally. The light for the passenger seatbelt was on the center dash separate from the light for the driver seatbelt.

    • Technician found a code for a possible short to ground on the harness leading into the passenger curtain airbag. Called out our specialist from ATS to determine the root cause. This airbag was replaced just two months ago and the system check each time the vehicle turns on should alert to a problem with the airbag immediately. Specialist was able to review the new SRS warning. The airbag's continuity was tested and found to be at 2.5 ohms, so no shorts to ground there or and further testing didn't find any problems with the wiring leading into the curtain airbag. The next step was to test the module and connections leading into the module for a loose connection or logic fault. The trim around the center console was removed to access the SRS bolted to the floor in the center of the vehicle. The module was dry, undamaged, and had likely never been exposed since it's first installation.
    • ATS found all the wiring from the rear quarter panel to the airbag is in good condition without any burns, damaged insulation, or loose connections. The resistance within the airbag itself is at the required 2.5 ohms, confirming the airbag is set to function properly if needed. ATS will return to test the SRS module under the center console once the console is removed for access. It's believed the fault is at the module itself, a terminal plugged into the module, or a wire in the harness to the module.
